Software One: Programs to Connect Your Calculator and Computer

The first program you need is a program to transfer programs between your computer and your calculator. There is a wide variety of programs available, depending on your type of cable. The following table shows a list of links to the latest versions of the software, the author of the program, and the operating system.

The following programs work with the Graph Link sold By Texas Instruments:

Note: Please direct all technical questions to the authors of the software. I can only answer some of the simpler questions.

Notes on each program above:

All DOS programs - most DOS programs do work in a DOS window in Windows95. Sometimes the DOS programs may not work and you have exit into DOS mode.
Link-92 - Nice little program that sends, receives, and converts TI-92 programs. Be sure to read the document included in the zip file.
LINK-TI - Simple program that sends and receives TI-92 programs in a group format. This group format has the extension *.92@. See program list below for information on converting programs to this format. This program also takes screen dumps from the calculator. Pretty colors too!
PLINK! - Very simple looking program that transmits TI-92 programs and can do screen dumps. The zip file includes some very informative files detailing the protocols and actual setup of the TI-92 programs.
TI-92 Graph Link - This is TI's program that only works with the TI-92 Graph Link. It generally does not work with the serial or parallel cables. However, it is still useful to have as a tool for viewing, editing, and printing TI-92 programs on your computer.
Wizard92 - This program is the newest, and probably the best, program for transfering files. There is one catch, however, you must pay to use it past a trial of 20 days. This program works only on Windows95 systems. This program can do the standard two way transfer of TI-92 programs and has the added features to do backups and installs of FARGO versions 1 and 2.
Command Center - I don't have an Amiga, so I have no idea.
Tickle92 - Same as Command Center, I have no idea.
LINK92XP - This is pretty much the same program as LINK-TI, but I guess it works for the parallel port instead of the serial link.

Another consideration is the type of file you will be downloading. Here is a list of the dos extensions for the TI-92 files:

*.92@ -> Group files that work with the DOS utilities. The TI Windows program will NOT use these.
*.92C -> data files
*.92D -> GDB files
*.92E -> expressions
*.92F -> functions
*.92G -> Group files that may someday work with the TI Windows software. Use converter to work with DOS software.
*.92M -> Matrix files
*.92P -> Basic program files
*.92S -> String files
*.92T -> Text files
*.UUE -> These are any type of programs UUE encoded. You can use TI's Windows program or a news reader to decode the files and use them.

All file types above, except when noted, will work with TI's software. These files can be sent between the calculator using the windows software or the Fargo utility. The *.92G files can be converted to *.92@ using the converter program found in convtoat.zip. The new files will have a *.92@ extension. These group files can be sent using the program in link92xp.zip. Also, the program in fargutil.zip will send the *.92G files without conversion. Additional Software Utilities
Filename	Description
fargutil.zip	DOS Program that can send and receives files from the calculator and does a few other things. I didn't include this program above because it is actually from the fargo installation. The program is called FLINK and works with the parallel and serial port cables, but not the Graph Link. This is the best program for the parallel port if you don't use windows.
ltest102.zip	DOS Program that tests your parallel link cable
convfrom.zip	DOS Program that converts files from .92@ to .92? and .92? to .92@. The .92? indicates any type of TI-92 file (for example, .92T are text files and *.92P are programs). See the next page for more information. Need for link92xp.zip.
convtoat.zip	DOS program that converts files ONLY from .92G to .92@. Needed for link92xp.zip.
ti-icons.zip	Icons for Windows that lets your wimpy computer begin to look like your powerful TI calculator.
ti-prot.txt	Text file that details the port protocols for the TI-92.
